English version:
Titled Alien Holidays, the film is directed by Roberto Gasparro and created using the Aigascope technique, a form of rotoscope animation made possible through advanced Artificial Intelligence software.
Aigascope, as explained by the production, does not aim to replace the human actor, but rather to give them an animated, enhanced value. Therefore, Alien Holidays was filmed entirely in digital, using real actors (Fabio Fulco, Francesco Isasca, Ciro Villano, Vittoria Chiolero, and Giuseppe Guastaferro) and real locations, with specific techniques and devices tailored to this approach.
The real breakthrough lies in eliminating tedious, repetitive tasks, which are automated through AI.
The protagonist of Alien Holidays is Xiam, a young extraterrestrial botanist from the planet Xiav, who becomes famous for recreating a plant in a laboratory. On Xiav, this is a historic achievement, as the planet has been completely polluted due to centuries of overexploitation of its resources. As a reward, Xiam is granted a Government Prize after a journey to the capital, but a technical error sends him off course. He crash-lands on an unknown planet, where he befriends Commander Arturo Botti and becomes mesmerized by the beauty of the land. He embarks on an adventure to discover flavors, places, and scents that help him reconnect with senses that no longer exist on his home planet. However, the apparent tranquility of the place is disrupted by canine scientists and forbidden laboratories.
Aigascope, is a technique created by Gerardo Schiavone and developed through collaboration with producer Salvatore Scarico and Matteo De Simone of Kiwifarm srl, a company specialized in software development and innovation. The film is produced by Green Film srl with the support of the Directorate General for Cinema of the Italian Ministry of Culture (MiC). “In the near future,” says Schiavone, “the Italian film landscape will be driven by creative districts, masters of new technologies who use them to amplify their art. A new synergy between artists, innovation engineers, and visionary producers will give rise to unique and revolutionary cinematic works.”
